As the football boys stretch and prepare for the football game, Pelahatchie members usually sit in the blaring sun; however now Pelahatchie has provided people the opportunity to tailgate.

Tailgating is available now for teachers, cheerleaders, friends, and family near the field house at every home game! Everyone can be involved if any person can be involved as long he or she wears a red wristband, an identifier of a tailgater.

“The high points to tailgating is socializing with friends and family and being in the atmosphere of a winning football team,” stated Katie Bell Boyer, a Pelahatchie cheerleader. Boyer and her family have tailgated at every home game. The Boyer family involves the cheerleaders and lets them hang out under their tent.

Regardless to what you’re looking for, whether your a faculty member or a fan, tailgating is not free! If you want to tailgate you have to provide your own tent and seats. Other extra item’s, such as food, drinks, and games have to be brought from the tailgater, too.

Tailgating starts around 5:30pm- 6:00pm so that everyone can get everything set up and prepared for the rest of the game.Usually people grill burgers or hotdogs, so people will get to the game early to get involved in tailgating. If someone has paid their dues to tailgate they can stay in the gated areas until the game ends.

This year Pelahatchie built a fenced- in tailgating area, so usually there are about 8 or less tents set up for tailgating. In that case there aren’t usually new people who tailgate.

Whenever people tailgating don’t get hit by a football! The new tailgating area is right behind the field goal, so many people who have been tailgating have been hit by a football flying in the air.

This season’s tailgating is coming to an end since there are only two more home game’s, so make sure to look into tailgating. Come on down and hang with friends and live the life of tailgating.
