Pelahatchie High Schools newspaper staff took a field trip to New Stage Theater to watch the live production of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The staff left from Pelahatchie High School at 8:30 am on Friday, December 7. The trip was chaperoned by Laura Grice, Eles Renfroe, and JP Stapleton.

Once arriving at New Stage, the newspaper staff was seated, and the play began at 10:00am. The main star of the play, Ebenezer Scrooge, was played by Turner Crumbley. As the play continued, the audience got to see the three spirits of Christmas: Christmas past played by Mandy Kate Myers, Christmas present played by Joseph Frost, and christmas future played by Cameron Pitre.

The played was full of special effects and received multiple cheers from the audience. “My favorite part of the play is when Tiny Tim lived, even though I know he is going to live I still cry every time,” Laura Grice exclaims while talking about her experience at the play.  After the play ended the staff met back on the bus before they left for a quick lunch. The staff was given a choice between Chick-Fil-A and McDonalds. They split ways and met back on the bus at 1:25pm to leave for Pelahatchie High School.

The students arrived back on campus at 2:00pm and returned to their fourth block class. The next field trip that the newspaper staff has planned will not occur until April 1.
