JROTC Cadets Prepare for the 2018- 2019 Annual Awards Ceremony
April 26, 2019
The 2018-2019 school year is coming to an end. The JROTC program has put together the Annual Awards Ceremony to honor cadets in the program.
The JROTC Annual Awards Ceremony will take place on April 30, 2019 at 6:00pm in the Pelahatchie High School auditorium. The program will consist of Pelahatchie and Puckett cadets since the JROTC program consists of two companies.
Pelahatchie JROTC cadets will be rehearsing for the program Friday, April 26 and Monday, April 29. During the rehearsal they will practice the color guard, narration being presented, and the exchange in the Chain of Command.
The color guard will consist of two cadets from Pelahatchie and two from Puckett. These cadets will carry the state flag, the U.S. flag, and two rifles.
The narrator of the program will be Carmen Hamilton. “I am nervous about the pronunciation of some words; however, I think a few practices will help prepare me for the ceremony,” said Hamilton. Some cadets are presented with special awards that have stood out and participated in a variety of events within the program.
The exchange in Chain of Command is an important part of the ceremony because the current commander of the program, Jessica Smith, will hand her position to the incoming commander.
The program will also announce the incoming staff and their positions; some cadets will be promoted. There will also be cadets named for completing their LET level.
When the program is over there will be cake and refreshments in the back for guests and cadets that attended the program.
